Video of the Good Food & Wine Show....
IT WAS ALL GOOD FOOD AND WINE
Yes, it is now official. The Good Food & Wine Show is undoubtedly South Africa’s best food and wine show. The organisers were inundated with compliments form visitors, media and exhibitors that hailed the Show hosted at The Coca Cola Dome in Northgate from 31 Oct to 01 Nov as the best Show ever. A fragrance of food filled the air as celebrity and South African chefs cooked up a storm during the four days whilst entertaining the crowds with some of the best culinary demonstrations ever seen.
Thousands of keen food lovers eagerly queued outside the venue over the weekend waiting for the doors to open. There was so much more to taste, see and buy. Many visitors came back for a second and sometimes a third visit. Thousands of rands worth of prizes that included an Elba Stove worth R15 000, a R10 000 Le Creuset voucher, a sports package to watch SA play Ireland in Dublin as well as an Indian experience which included flights and accommodation were handed out to very excited winners!
Celebrity Chefs Ainsley Harriott, Reza Mahammad, Valentine Warner, Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi and Patrick Williams flown in by Swiss International air Lines were welcomed to Gauteng at a star studded charity dinner hosted by Samsung at The Palazzo Monte Casino Hotel demonstrating true Gauteng hospitality. The funds raised were donated to two very worthy charities being Operation Bobby Bear and Copes Clinic SA, who assist abused children that need help in Soweto and Kwa Zulu Natal.
Showstopper Ainsley Harriott proved that you can have fun in the kitchen. His hip swinging moves marvelled visitors and exhibitors including celebrities Mara Louw and Jeannie D.
Valentine Warner, the new kid on the block, stunned the crowds with his knowledge of fresh produce and his surprise visit to the very popular Sakhumzi Restaurant in Soweto where he served a Mexican dish to excited visitors paired with traditional samp and beans. Valentine was one of the judges of the brand new Biltong Boulevard competition which was won by H&F Meats from Midrand.” I love biltong and friends fly some in for me from South Africa”. H & F was hands down the best!” he said.
Patrick Williams added a Caribbean flavour to the interactive workshops and gave everyone a taste of what’s to come when he opens his new restaurant and culinary school in South Africa.
The charming Caldesi’s wowed the crowds with their Italian charm, demonstrating to jam-packed Chefs in Action theatre audiences. Katie launched her new book, The Italian cookery School which was sold out on the second day.
Flamboyant Reza Mahammad crowned Jozi’s Bunny Chow winner and we congratulate Zara Kara from Karma Restaurant who won the competition.” I just love the creativity and the passion displayed in creating these masterpieces,” Reza commented.
